5 top international schools
American School of Bombay (ASB)
The most internationally-flavoured school in Mumbai. ~50+ nationalities, strongly American-style culture. Great for NRI families repatriating from US/UK who want familiar pedagogy. Highly competitive — apply 12-18 months early. Strong sports + arts. Inclusive Learning Support team handles ADHD, dyslexia, mild autism with proper IEP processes.
ASB admissions ↗Dhirubhai Ambani International School (DAIS)
Reliance-backed, academically the strongest school in Mumbai by IB scores. Ivy + Oxbridge placements at scale. Also more academically selective — admissions involve testing/interviews. Better for kids who thrive in high-pressure environments. Less sport/arts breadth than ASB. Learning-support is integrated but the school is academically streamed.
DAIS admissions ↗Oberoi International School (OIS)
Two campuses in Mumbai's Western Suburbs. Beautiful infrastructure (the Oberoi name brings hospitality polish). Strong all-rounder — academics + sports + arts in balance. Best fit for NRI families settling in Powai, Andheri-W, Bandra-W (commute is the deciding factor). Learning Enhancement Programme is well-documented for parents to evaluate.
OIS admissions ↗JBCN International School
Most accessible international school chain in Mumbai by location and price. 4 campuses cover most of the city. Smaller than ASB/DAIS by reputation but rapidly growing IB programme. Better for families who want international curriculum without the BKC tuition tier. Admission less competitive — useful as a strong backup option.
JBCN admissions ↗Aditya Birla World Academy (ABWA)
The South Bombay choice for NRI families settling in Malabar Hill, Worli, Cuffe Parade, Walkeshwar. Aditya Birla group-backed. Strong IB programme. Smaller cohort than the BKC schools — more individual attention but fewer extracurricular options. Good if location-driven (no daily commute through Worli sea-link).
ABWA admissions ↗Other strong options
Ascend International School (BKC, IB) · Singapore International School (Powai, Singapore curriculum) · Hill Spring International School (Tardeo, ICSE/IGCSE) · BD Somani International School (Cuffe Parade, IB) · Bombay International School (Babulnath, ICSE/IGCSE) · The Cathedral & John Connon School (Fort, ICSE — competitive heritage school).
Pre-school NRI favourites in BKC / Bandra / Santacruz: Bombay Cambridge International (Andheri), Sherwood Pre-School (Pali Hill), Strawberry Fields (Bandra-W), Mainland China School (Santacruz), Rosary Pre-Primary (Bandra-W).

Questions to ask the Learning Support Coordinator (don't skip)
- What's your pull-out vs push-in ratio for students with learning differences? (Pull-out = removed for individual support; push-in = specialist works alongside in classroom.)
- How many students with formal IEPs (Individualised Education Plans) are in the cohort, and what's the specialist-to-student ratio?
- For ADHD / dyslexia / mild autism / processing-speed differences — what specific accommodations are routine? Examples: extended exam time, alternative assessment formats, sensory breaks, scribe support.
- Does the school have an occupational therapist or speech therapist on-site, or referral relationships?
- How are accommodations communicated to subject teachers — is there a formal handover at the start of each year?
- What's the policy for standardised testing accommodations (SAT, IB exams, IGCSE)? Some schools support; others don't.
- Can we speak to 2–3 other parents whose children have similar profiles?
