"When we moved back to Mumbai in 2023, school selection was the most stressful part — harder than buying property, harder than redesignating accounts. The applications start 12-18 months ahead. The websites tell you about IB and AP. They don't tell you about wait-lists, what 'inclusive' actually means in practice, or which neighbourhood works for which school. Most of what's below comes from parents I know — not from school marketing."

LocationBandra Kurla Complex (BKC)

Learning supportDifferentiated instruction; selective

Reliance-backed, academically the strongest school in Mumbai by IB scores. Ivy + Oxbridge placements at scale. Also more academically selective — admissions involve testing/interviews. Better for kids who thrive in high-pressure environments. Less sport/arts breadth than ASB. Learning-support is integrated but the school is academically streamed.

Two campuses in Mumbai's Western Suburbs. Beautiful infrastructure (the Oberoi name brings hospitality polish). Strong all-rounder — academics + sports + arts in balance. Best fit for NRI families settling in Powai, Andheri-W, Bandra-W (commute is the deciding factor). Learning Enhancement Programme is well-documented for parents to evaluate.

The South Bombay choice for NRI families settling in Malabar Hill, Worli, Cuffe Parade, Walkeshwar. Aditya Birla group-backed. Strong IB programme. Learning support & neurodivergent inclusion

The honest read: Mumbai international schools market themselves as "inclusive" — but execution varies hugely. ASB has the most documented programme (Learning Support Coordinator + IEP framework). Oberoi's Learning Enhancement Programme is well-defined. DAIS is academically selective so support exists but the school filters in admission. JBCN handles support case-by-case. ABWA's smaller staff means less specialist depth.

Apply
Submit applications. Most have early application windows October-December for following June intake. Pay non-refundable application fees ₹3-10K per school. Don't apply to fewer than 3.
